KeymasterHi Brian, a quick Google on “cnc routing service uk” brought up many companies offering such a service? I would suggest approaching three to five of them with a request for a quote. These were a few who looked quite capable of doing the work:
https://www.one-stop-diy.co.uk/cnc-cutting-service.php
https://www.cncroutingservice.co.uk/
https://www.cncwarehouse.co.uk/That said, great news is we will be setting up shop in Ireland from the middle of the year to service the UK and EU. 🙂
Let us know if you come right,

ParticipantHi Roel hope you are staying safe and have settled in Ireland ok. I’m still having issue here in the UK with CNC companies .There are either not interested as it’s a one off job or the job is to complicated for the DIY services such as one stop shop DIY .I’m hopping you now have your CNC service in operation .

KeymasterHi Brian,
Good to hear from you! Staying safe thank you and hope the same for you. I cannot say as much for moving to Ireland. The lockdowns in SA and Ireland have meant significant delays. We are hoping to be able to move at the end of July, but that would be the soonest. I would also then need to have a workshop built before I can install a CNC machine. So don’t expect that side to be productive before the end of the year.
I have sent you an email with possible ways of moving forward, I look forward to your response on that.
All the best,
Roel -

ParticipantHi Brian,
I had a good dialogue with Fractory.com for cutting and bending the aluminium parts for the throttle controller, but it turned out that they could not ship to Norway.
I have now bought aluminium myself and cut the parts on my homemade CNC machine.Svein Rune

ParticipantHi Brian,
I’m in Melbourne, Australia.
I’ve found that I’ve had to break the plan set down into bite-sized fragments and spoon-feed them to the CNC service providers here.
I think they find the complete plan set rather daunting and without guidance don’t know which way to approach the plans.
Perhaps start with just the plywood and explain things in words of one syllable.
Cheers

KeymasterHi again Brian (and everybody 🙂 )
I received an email from Doug this morning indicating the pretty steep cost he had been quoted for the CNC Plywood work in Melbourne. I hope you dont mind Doug but I would like to share my response here for the benefit of Brian (and everyone else battling with the same problem).
One of the things I actively promote is local manufacturing and building of related skills. As such, why don’t you go chat to the folks at one of your local Maker Spaces? These are not hard skills to learn, they are huge fun, you get to meet some great and inspirational people and you will find it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Here’s are a few links for your area Brian, being Milton Keynes and surrounds:
/Milton Keynes Makerspace
Makespace in Cambridge
D-Lab Studios in Berkhamsted
And there are fortunately many in the world, just Google “makerspace near me”.
Why don’t you do yourself a favour and go chat with the folk at Milton Keynes as a first stop?

ParticipantAll good Roel, I think it’s important that we’re aware of these ualternatives and as you said, an opportunity to expand our skills.
